Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic healing from India, often translated as “The Science of Life.” It emphasizes balance among body, mind, and spirit to maintain health and treat disease.

Ayurvedic knowledge originated in the Vedic tradition more than 5,000 years ago in India. Over centuries it was passed down through oral and written traditions, adapting to local environments and practices.

Ayurveda teaches that the body and mind are composed of five fundamental elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth). These combine into three primary functional energies known as doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — which govern physical, mental, and emotional processes.

Diagnosis is holistic. It may include:

  • Pulse reading (Nadi Pariksha)
  • Detailed questionnaires about diet, lifestyle, emotions, medical history
  • Physical examination & observation
  • Understanding imbalances in both the individual and the disease
We then tailor treatment for your unique constitution and condition.

When prescribed by a qualified practitioner, herbal remedies are generally safe and monitored closely. Dosages may be adjusted over time depending on responses and changes in condition.

It depends on multiple factors:

  • Your age
  • Type and severity of condition
  • Whether it is acute or chronic
  • Your commitment to the treatment plan

Some imbalances are corrected more quickly, while others may require more time and consistent effort.

  • Arrive (or connect, for online) a few minutes early.
  • Be ready to share detailed information about your lifestyle, diet, mental state, medical history, etc.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • For online consultations, ensure a quiet, undisturbed space.

After the initial session, follow-ups are recommended (e.g. every 2–4 weeks) to revisit your plan, make adjustments, monitor progress, and answer questions. Email or messaging support may also be available (depending on your subscription or package).

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be easily adjusted or removed if needed. Avoid perfumes or strong scents prior to treatment, as we use therapeutic oils and herbs.

It depends on the type of therapy. Most treatments work best when your stomach is light or empty. For some therapies, a very light snack may be acceptable; your practitioner will advise.

  • Any prior medical records or reports
  • A water bottle
  • Openness and readiness to share
  • Comfortable clothes

If you traveled a long distance, plan extra time for rest and hydration afterward.

After therapy, you’ll receive post-care instructions specific to your treatment. Common guidance may include:

  • Avoid heavy exertion for a period
  • Stay hydrated
  • Adhere to dietary recommendations
  • Rest in a calm environment
